Congratulations Saeema on your promotion to Senior Health, Safety & Security Assistant; supporting our Group Head of Quality and Health & Safety.
“I have spent over a year in the compliance department working on quality management systems at Certification already, but Health & Safety is a completely new field to me. I'm looking forward to the new challenge. The new role gives me a firm direction on the specific areas of the business that I will be working on, which is different to the previous year spent in compliance covering many different areas of Certification and various management systems. It's also exciting to move away from solely Certification activities and looking at the divisions of the Group as a whole.”
“Stroma is part of an ever-evolving industry and is a company that is willing to invest in its employees, owing to its ethos of ‘people’ being at the heart of the company.”
Charlie began his Stroma Journey in July 2018 as a 6-month temp in the Petts Wood office to help with a backlog of work. After taking on more duties was offered the position full time.
“During my PDR with my manager Carrie, I made it known I would be interested in becoming a surveyor and after conversations with Yemi, the manager at Petts Wood, was offered a promotion to Trainee Surveyor. I will now join up with her team and attend college once a week to help my development.”
“With this new role it will ultimately put me on the correct path to be a Senior Surveyor.”
“As I’m currently a new trainee, it would be to develop into an assistant and then a Senior Surveyor, but that will take a lot of learning and hard work on my part.”
“Stroma is now one of the biggest Building Control companies in the market and with recent growth we're also aiming to be the best.”
Anthony has completed 4 ABBE qualifications in the last 18 months!
His qualifications covered: EDI Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF), ABBE Non-Domestic Level 3 EPC certificate, ABBE Non-Domestic Level 4 EPC certificate and ABBE Non-Domestic Level 3 DEC certificate.
As a trainer since 2008 with Stroma Accreditation, I was concerned on how long it was taking trainees to go through the ABBE qualifications we deliver. So, I embarked on a learner trail to see what the pit falls the trainees were falling into. Through this ordeal, we are looking to make trainees do more of the tasks needed by the qualification as part of their learning through the course.
When I look back over the last 10.5 years since I joined Stroma and see how we have trained the current crop of energy assessors, I think to the future of what comes next as a challenge for me but also Stroma Certification as a learning centre.
Yvette started her Stroma journey as an Administrator, a role she carried out for 12 months, she then moved on to become an Assistant Building Control Surveyor.
“It will help me gain more knowledge and experience within building control.”
“With all the training that is available with Stroma I hope to become a fully qualified Building Control Surveyor.”
"Stroma is a very welcoming company and I have found it very supportive should you wish to pursue a career within one of our groups."
James joins Stroma Specialist Access as a Rope Access Structural Examiner.
Rock-climbing lead James to a career in rope access and building maintenance, previously carrying out building maintenance work for a care company. For the last five years, James has also worked on a multitude of projects, including the O2, Tottenham Stadium and the Olympic Stadium.
“Stroma was offering the perfect job as it helped me continue with rope access work; a very similar role to what I was doing in Cambridge. Rope access is something I love. Being outside in the elements and managing to combine building work with rope work is something I’m happy to have achieved. Being located near to where I dreamed of living; it seemed irresistible. Already Stroma seems to be a well-run busy company, so I am excited to work here.”
“Climbing and mostly anything that involves some sort of exertion and being outside interests me. House renovation is something I like to do. It keeps me busy and I’ve always got a project on the go.”
