Stroma Certification has launched a Group Competence Scheme (GCS) which certifies companies who employ a large number of gas installers.

HRS Services Ltd, based in Sheffield, was acquired by the Group to complement the services offered by Stroma Tech – in addition to the provision of new Inspection & Maintenance services for infrastructure projects.

2016

Approved Inspector acquisitions

Stroma Group confirmed the acquisitions of Approved Design Consultancy and BBS Building Control – two more CIC Approved Inspector organisations. Approved Inspector services can now be procured nationwide from Approved Design, BBS and Greendoor. Stroma Certification brought a new Cavity Clearance Certification scheme to market for insulation professionals. As a prominent organisation within the construction industry, Stroma Tech was confirmed as Lead Sponsor of the BREEAM Awards 2016.

2015

Welcoming Greendoor Building Control

Following the LDC investment, Stroma secured the acquisition of Greendoor Building Control, a CIC Approved Inspector. Greendoor held over a decade’s experience in Building Control for both domestic and commercial clients. There was further diversification within the Stroma Certification business as it became a UKAS accredited provider of ISO 9001 Certification for companies, as well as being confirmed as a TrustMark Approved Scheme Operator.

2014

Major investment and expansion

Stroma secured major investment from LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group, who became minority shareholders. The funds are used to drive the Group’s strategic expansion. The Stroma Software brand was also created in response to the rapid expansion of our software development team. Soon afterwards all RSAP+ mobile and desktop software modules received BRE approval in line with the new RdSAP 9.92 standard.

2013

Tech answers a DIY SOS

Stroma Tech completed a complementary air test for the Little Miracles charity as part of a special DIY SOS for Children in Need. Stroma Certification’s upward trend continued at a pace as the company secured ISO 14001 and 27001 accreditation, opened a new Energy Company Obligation (ECO) department (inclusive of an Ofgem approved ECO calculation software) and provided a key software development in RSAP+ to submit the first live Green Deal Finance application to the Green Deal Finance Company.

2012

Stroma goes mobile

Stroma Certification’s energy assessment software, RSAP+, is launched for the first time on iPad. This helps our DEA members to achieve greater efficiency savings under the Green Deal. RSAP+ also includes a new Occupancy Assessment module from which our members lodge the first live Green Deal Advisory Report.

2011

Launching the Green Deal

Stroma Certification made a major contribution to the pilot certification schemes for Green Deal assessors and installers in conjunction with the DECC. This put the business at the forefront of scheme and policy development for this new energy efficiency standard. We also begin delivering solar PV to customers nationwide in line with the new Feed-in Tariff.

2010

Further growth and acquisition

There was expansion across the Group as Stroma Tech began providing impact assessments and compliance strategies to Carbon Reduction Commitment-obligated companies. A new facilities management division was formed in Stroma Evolution following a competitor acquisition. Stroma Certification gained approval from DCLG to run Competent Person Schemes for installer trades and also launched software packages for SAP and CSH assessments.

2009

Stroma Certification employees lodged the first ever non-domestic EPC and Display Energy Certificate (DEC) in preparation for their mandatory introduction in 2009. The range of schemes Stroma offer is augmented by the grant of a license to provide Code for Sustainable Homes certification for assessors.

2007

Stroma Certification is founded

A new division, Stroma Certification, was formed to provide training and certification services for energy assessors. This was in response to Government legislation requiring new inspection criteria for new and existing dwellings/commercial properties. Stroma Certification received approval to run a number of certification schemes to support the industry in achieving the required compliance standards.

Our air tightness team grows

Part L 2006 buillt on the 2002 standards to introduce even greater minimum air testing requirements, with tests required for all new commercial buildings over 500m2 and a sample of all new dwellings. The industry also now faces more onerous targets for air tightness and overall energy efficiency. Stroma stepped up to help, with an experienced and expanding team of engineers.

2005

Acquisition and diversification

We launched specialist subcontracting services, covering firestopping as well as the installation of air and acoustic barriers. The company also acquired Retrotec Europe, allowing us to begin supplying air tightness testing equipment.

2004

Industry recognition and improved services

We gained UKAS accreditation for air permeability testing and a new acoustic testing service (added in response to Building Regulation Part E). Further service diversification included the addition of thermographic testing services and the company expansion led to a permanent relocation from Halifax to a new Castleford Head Office.

2003

A year of steady growth

Stroma (now Stroma Tech) grew steadily in our first year of trading, forming a reputation as specialists in air-tightness testing and consultancy.
