Stroma Certification operates a Green Deal Advice Organisation (GDAO) Certification scheme is approved by DBEIS and accredited by UKAS, in line with ISO 17065:2012. As one of the pioneers of the original Green Deal scheme we are best placed to provide certification to organisations looking to assess the compliance of advice given to homeowners for Green Deal work.

What is the GDAO Certification Scheme?

GDAO Certification allows organisations and advisors to provide assessments and advice under the Green Deal Scheme. We offer Green Deal schemes across the assessor and installer spectrum providing experience and expertise.

Green Deal Advisors are reliant upon certified Green Deal Assessor Organisations to practice within the industry. By becoming a certified GDAO you can fulfil all legal & compliance requirements of the Green Deal scheme. A compliant Quality Management System (QMS)

Stroma Certification will only certify a GDAO once an appropriate QMS has been evidenced. Your QMS should cover the following in line with the 005 Specification for Organisations providing the Green Deal Advice Service:

Policies and procedures for:

  • Selection and work assignment
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Sub-contracting Green Deal advice work
  • Green Deal Advisor control: documents, record keeping and information management
  • Internal auditing and corrective actions
  • Interaction with customers
  • Claims of conformity
  • Complaints management
  • Disciplinary and appeals procedure

Operational procedures for:

  • Preparation for the Green Deal assessment
  • Providing and exchanging information with customers prior to Green Deal assessment visits
  • Applying RdSAP or full SAP methodology
  • Checking EPC validity and suitability for the Green Deal assessment
  • The Green Deal assessment and information gathering
  • Providing initial feedback to the customer during the assessment visit
  • Post Green Deal assessment visits
  • Lodgement of GDARs in England, Wales and Scotland
  • Production of the new EPC following installation of Green Deal measures


RdSAP approved lodgement software

Stroma-certified DEAs receive a free download of our RdSAP software which is available to lodge EPCs on desktop and mobile. RdSAP is the standard assessment system which is approved by the Government to enable an energy survey to be completed before a domestic property is bought, sold or rented. All our DEA software is produced in-house (by our sister division – Stroma Software) and it is compliant with the requirements of RdSAP 9.92.

Our Green Deal team can guide you through the application process. The QMS is a requirement for organisations who register as a GDAO. It is outlined in the Specification for Organisations Providing Green Deal Advice Services. We'll also give you options on 'per click' insurance to increase consumer confidence and protect your customers and advisors.



The minimum levels of personal insurance cover required by our GDAO certification scheme are:

Domestic Buildings

  • Professional Indemnity Cover £100,000
  • Public Liability Cover £1,000,000

Buildings

  • Professional Indemnity Cover £250,000
  • Public Liability Cover £1,000,000

Green Deal Assessor Organisation Certification (GDAO)

We offer 10 hours of free CPD each year through regular technical bulletins and CPD events. By attending two of Stroma's DEA CPD seminars and reading our quarterly technical bulletins you can log the neccessary 10 hours to fufill your scheme requirements.
