Stroma Certification’s ABBE-approved Domestic On Construction Energy Assessor Training is a five-day Level 3 course to qualify as a Domestic On Construction Energy Assessor (DOCEA). Only qualified Domestic On Construction Energy Assessors can produce both Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) calculations and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) required for all new homes.

Complete the DOCEA training with Stroma Certification and you’ll gain membership of a fully audited new build scheme. Candidates are guided through the assessment process, from receiving clients’ instructions to gathering and inputting data to generating the SAP report and lodging the EPC. The SAP course is the only one of its kind to cover the Scottish Building Regulations (in addition to England, Northern Ireland and Wales). A certificate is provided at the end of the course to confirm competency in EPC lodgement and understanding of regulation in Scotland.

Rating new build dwellings

The Standard Assessment Procedure is the Government’s methodology for calculating the energy performance of new build UK dwellings. It is used to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and Part L of the Building Regulations. SAP energy assessments are based on a range of factors including building materials, heating systems and controls, ventilation and renewable technologies.

FSAP 2012 software

Stroma Certification provides FSAP software to help DOCEAs to compile SAP calculations in order to consult and assist with the design of new build developments. FSAP 2012 tuition is a component aspect of the four day course and DOCEA members are provided with a software download once they complete the training.

Growth in new build housing

DOCEA Training represents a huge opportunity for the energy assessor marketplace. SAP is required for every single new build dwelling. The new housing market is a growth sector and the government has pledged to boost new housing numbers throughout the remainder of the current Parliament. This means that more reports are required every year and with no requirement for s site visit, SAP work is extremely convenient to mesh with your current working routine.

Course Information

Stroma Certification’s Domestic On Construction Energy Assessor (DOCEA) training is approved by the Awarding Body of the Built Environment (ABBE). A registration fee of £230+VAT is payable to ABBE upon course completion. We offer DOCEA training across the UK and can provide the course at a location of your choosing for groups of four or more individuals.
